BBC Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball was replaced at the last minute again as she pulled out of Monday August 12’s live show, and was replaced by a radio legend.
This comes after she failed to appear on Friday’s edition as well, leaving her friend Gaby Roslin to take over the reins, who didn’t explain Zoe’s absence.
As viewers tuned in to hear what Zoe had to say, they instead found themselves listening to presenter Scott Mills. He told fans: “Good morning! You weren’t expecting me were you?
“Welcome to Monday, this is Scott Mills. If you set your alarm to go off every morning at 6.30 and normally Zoe comes on, please do not freak out, you have not overslept until 2pm, I’m here doing the breakfast show, so do not panic, you’re not late for work.”
Scott then quickly moved on with the show as he gave listeners a breakdown of what to expect for the next three hours, but fans were left stunned by Zoe’s absence.
They rushed to social media to share their concern, as one said: “Where is #ZoeBall AGAIN…..”
Another asked: “Zoe Ball MIA again?? WTF?” as a third chimed in: “Zoe Ball must have full sick pay entitlement – She’s never there.”
Meanwhile, another was full of praise for Scott, as they said: “Scott Mills on Radio 2 now covering the Breakfast show for Zoe Ball and he’s sounding brilliant.”
Another agreed: “Scott Mills in place of Zoe Ball, make it permanent.”
Zoe sparked concern after she teased she would be interviewing singer Will Young on Friday morning, as he shared an Instagram Story on Thursday evening which tagged her.
He penned: “Jumping in to album release day tomorrow on @bbcradio2. @zoetheball bring your swimmers,” to which she replied: “See you at dawn”.
Instead it was Gaby who addressed viewers, and while she didn’t address the absence on air, she posted on social media: “”Hello there. I’m in for Zoe Ball from 6.30, which is in just a couple of minutes time.”
