Xbox June update rolls out to all Xbox players
Xbox consoles
We’ll kick this off with news for Xbox Series X|S players: you can now customize your background even more. Today’s update adds a new feature to run dynamic backgrounds alongside the game art backgrounds, using the dynamic image as a replacement for apps on your dashboard. Additionally, a new setting gives you the option to change the dynamic background color without affecting your profile theme.
You can find these features here: Settings > General > Personalization > My Background > Show selected game art.
Elsewhere for consoles, if you happen to lug your Xbox to new places, you should find it easier to reconnect to networks. The new update adds the ability for consoles to remember up to ten different networks, without needing to type in the password again. Of course, this would be a fantastic feature for that long-speculated Xbox handheld console.
As for other convenient features, you can now manage your subscriptions right on your console. Just head to Settings > Account > Subscriptions.
Microsoft says more “experiments” are on the way too. “We’re always experimenting and looking for ways to make your console experience even better. This month, you may notice updates such as the ability to find people using console search, updates to the Game Pass page layout and style, and additional information to search card results and flashcard store buttons. As we roll out these experiments, a random subset of players will be able to give them a try.”
Xbox PC app
Today’s update brings some improvements to the Xbox app on PC, namely for Xbox Game Pass. The Game Pass tab will now display options to immediately access games in the catalog, including those available through EA Play and Riot Games.
Xbox Cloud Gaming
If you access Xbox Cloud Gaming via Xbox Game Pass via the Edge or Chrome browsers on PC, today’s update adds mouse and keyboard support for several games. Microsoft has added a mouse and keyboard section to the Cloud Gaming tab to make the games easier to find.
Additionally, Xbox Cloud Gaming now features ways to self-manage your game data on Samsung TVs, PC browsers, and “other cloud-gaming devices.” This feature will help when troubleshooting corrupted game files or when a game needs resetting to its original state, so it could be worth checking out Xbox Support if it’s something you need to use.
Xbox Wireless Controller
As for accessories, this update rolls out new features for the Xbox Adaptive Controller and Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 Controller.
The Xbox Adaptive Controller now supports up to “12 buttons, a second stick, and a hat switch,” thanks to expanded support for USB accessories. The Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 Controller on the other hand, has had improvements made to the wireless disconnecting issues associated with headsets being attached to the 3.5mm audio port, as well as a few other bug fixes.
