Xbox Game Pass Adds Its First September Game, and It’s a Day One Launch Title

Star Trucker, a space-based trucking sim developed by Monster and Monster, has been released on Xbox Game Pass today as a day-one release. Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass continues to be a useful way for avid gamers to try out titles they might not otherwise have purchased, perhaps thinking it wasn’t in their wheelhouse. The subscription service offers hundreds of titles, from indie to AAA, and a variety of genres.

Many exciting titles have already been confirmed to be coming to the service this month, and a few of them will make fans of two particular genres very happy to have an Xbox Game Pass subscription in September. For people who enjoy simulation games, Star Trucker will be joined by Expeditions: A MudRunner Game on September 5 and Train Sim World 6 on September 17. Fans of strategy games will be thrilled with the addition of three upcoming Game Pass day-one releases: Age of Mythology: Retold, Frostpunk 2, and Ara: History Untold.

To start off the releases of several top-tier games in September, Xbox Game Pass has added Star Trucker to its selection of games. The trucking sim lets players get behind the wheel of a big rig and transport cargo, but with an interesting twist. The long-hauling will take place in interstellar space, complete with hyper highways, warp jumps, and a star map to plan the route. Players will of course be able to maintain and upgrade their rig, improving its ability to make the trek through more dangerous areas. Tuning in to the CB radio will uncover side gigs and, maybe most important, help truckers keep up with space gossip.

Games Confirmed for Xbox Game Pass in September

Star Trucker is the passion project of a two-man studio who called in their friends to create this unique sim game. Over the months leading up to release, the developers have shared a few details about what players can expect from the game when it launches on September 3. There will be five difficulty modes, including a custom option so players can fine tune the balance between hauling and maintenance. Players will be able to space walk like astronauts to check their rig, and earning XP will let them unlock new load types and weights to carry out more complicated jobs.

Just a couple days after Monster and Monster’s trucking sim launches, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game will also be added to the Xbox Game Pass catalogue. After the success of MudRunner and SnowRunner, Saber Interactive decided to make a spin-off that focuses a little more on exploration than hauling. Players will visit archaeological sites, wooded forests, mysterious ruins, steep slopes, and deep rivers in Arizona and Europe’s Carpathian Mountains in Expeditions: A MudRunner Game.
