WWE SummerSlam 2024 Results: Roman Reigns Returns In Bloodline Rules

Must read

Roman Reigns returned at WWE SummerSlam 2024 to assist Cody Rhodes in a Bloodline Rules Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

The story of Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa was a remix, of sorts, of Rhodes’ iconic feud with Roman Reigns. Except this time, Solo Sikoa had hijacked the Head of the Table and named himself the Tribal Chief. Flanked by newcomers the Guerrillas of Destiny and the dominant Jacob Fatu, the New Bloodline hit the ground running. They ousted Roman’s wiseman Paul Heyman, going full rogue. The night before SummerSlam, Fatu and Tama Tonga became the new WWE tag team champions.

The new Bloodline was designed to make fans beg for the return of Roman Reigns, and it worked to perfection. Chants of “we want Roman” have only gotten louder with every passing week. Solo’s go-home promo on SmackDown did everything but tell fans that Roman was coming back as Sikoa continued to denigrate his former Tribal Chief.

The icing on the cake of this feud, however, came when Solo challenged Cody to a Bloodline Rules match: The same match type where Roman Reigns’ historic WWE Championship win ended.

Cody Rhodes Vs. Solo Sikoa: Everything That Happened

Prior to this match, Cody had a meeting with Arn Anderson backstage and Anderson hinted that Cody would have allies to even the odds against the Bloodline.

Solo Sikoa took control of this match after an impressive spinning heel kick. As Solo Solo went for a Samoan Spike, back came Cody Rhodes with a comeback that bled to the outside of the ring.

Cody’s comeback continued in the ring, when he hit the Dusty punches. Cody then walked into (jumped into) a power bomb.

Solo Sikoa continued on offense until he put Cody in the Tree of Woe. Cody Dodged a charging Solo, and followed up with an awkward (but effective) moonsault into a cross body.

Cody’s rally led to a superplex on Solo. Cody and Solo exchanged punches, and fans booed when Solo connected, but cheered when Cody connected.

Following a Cross Rhodes, the Tongans hit the ring. The Guerrillas of Destiny did a number on Cody and fed him to Solo for a nearfall.

Kevin Owens hit the ring with Cody outnumbered and ran wild. As Owens was outnumbered, Randy Orton was next as he evened the odds.

After a nearfall by Cody, Rhodes pulled out a steel stair and walloped Sikoa with it. As Rhodes went for the final shot, Sikoa hit a Spear. As Rhodes regained his offense, out came Jacob Fatu with a flurry of offense on Rhodes. Nearfall.

Fatu hit a Samoan Splash through a table on Cody for another nearfall. After a Cody Cutter, both Cody and Solo were laid out. This cued Roman Reigns’ music as fans popped huge.

Reigns hit the ring and hit a Superman Punch on Solo Sikoa followed by a Spear. Fans chanted “holy s—t!” as Cody stared down Roman and Roman left.
