WWE SmackDown Winners And Grades

Bloodline Anointment Ceremony

Paul Heyman continued to play the victim as he was bullied into renaming Tama Tonga “The Right Hand Man.” Fans continued to chant “we want Roman.” I don’t trust Paul Heyman in this storyline, and Feel like he will ultimately betray Roman Reigns.

Kevin Owens and The Street Profits brawled with The Bloodline, leading to a main event match between the six individuals.

Backstage, an angry Cody Rhodes waited for AJ Styles in what would be the show-long storyline. It was on sight.

Bloodline Anointment Ceremony Grade: B

Cargill And Belair Def. Hartwell And LeRae

This tag team match involved what’s left of the women’s tag team division as Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler were watching from the outside along with Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre. Wade Barrett had nothing but great things to say about Dawn and Fyre, and seemed to be doing so out of fear more than anything.

Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae worked very well together as a tag team with new double-team moves.

After a predictable win by Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill, there was an even more predictable post-match brawl involving the tag team women’s division. A Tag Team Turmoil match can’t be too far behind.

Cargill and Belair vs. Hartwell and LeRae Grade: B-

Grayson Waller Def. Johnny Gargano

WWE continues to talk up the growing rift between Grayson Waller and Austin Theory. Heel commentator Wade Barrett assured the two were on the same page, which is a kiss of death.

Fans were loudly chanting “Johnny Wrestling” when Raw came back from break.

There were multiple moments where Waller and Johnny Gargano didn’t appear to be on the same page, leading to many “I don’t know what to call that” moments from the commentary team.

Grayson Waller sacrificed Theory, throwing him to the wolves as Gargano dived to the outside. This led to an awkward flipping unprettier by Waller. Waller won, but the pending rift remains.

Cody Rhodes Brawls With AJ Styles

In a single-camera-shot moment, Cody Rhodes walked to the ring to call AJ Styles out. Styles, flanked by his O.C. Goons Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, challenged Cody Rhodes to a WWE Championship match.

Cody Rhodes accepted Styles’ challenge, but added an “I Quit” stipulation for Clash at the Castle. This led to a brawl between Styles and Rhodes, which ended with a Styles cheapshot.

Say what you will about last week’s repetitive AJ Styles retirement, but it certainly got over. There was big heat for Styles and fans were very much behind Cody Rhodes.

AJ Styles vs. Cody Rhodes Brawl: B

LA Knight Def. Carmelo Hayes

Prior to SmackDown going to commercial, they’ve been showing slow-motion replays of the most recent spot. It adds a great real-sports feel.

The story of this match was an overconfident Carmelo Hayes being one step ahead of LA Knight until it ultimately cost HIM the match.

Following Knight’s victory, LA Knight threatened to bring SmackDown to Logan Paul.

Backstage, Nia Jax and Michin brawled after Michin spilled a drink in Nia’s face. Nia slipped twice on the drink while brawling with Michin.

LA Knight vs. Carmelo Hayes Grade: B

Bayley Confronts Piper Niven

Fans gave Bayley a very warm reception, but didn’t react to much after that.

Bayley acknowledged she’d be facing Piper Niven in her home country of Scotland. I feel like this should be a much bigger deal than it is, but WWE has been promoting multiple pay-per-views simultaneously, which includes King and Queen of the Ring a couple weeks ago in Saudi Arabia.

Chelsea Green did a great job speaking for Piper Niven. When it was time for Piper Niven to cut a promo, she received “what” chants. Niven clapped back by saying “inbreds say what?!” The “what” chants only continued after this.

After Piper’s mid promo, Logan Paul cut an awesome on-location promo where he called LA Knight a “walking catchphrase” and a “denim-vest Alladin.”

Bayley-Piper Niven Confrontation Grade: C+

Kevin Owens And The Street Profits Def. Bloodline By DQ

The Street Profits seemed to have quietly ended their alliance with Bobby Lashley and B-Fab for now. Let’s hope that’s not the case, because if it is, it was a complete failure and WWE is to blame.

Fans chanted “Solo sucks!” as the new Head of the Table controlled the match coming out of the break.

This match ended in a DQ as Sikoa and The Tongans attacked the babyfaces. Fans chanted “Randy,” but the chants went unanswered. The Bloodline punctuated their attack with a Shield Power Bomb on KO through the table. Massive heat.
