WWE provides storyline injury update on AJ Styles

Must read

WWE has issued an update on the storyline injury suffered by AJ Styles on SmackDown.

Styles appeared to injure his ankle during his match with Carmelo Hayes, eventually leading to Hayes being declared the winner. On Saturday, WWE’s Jackie Edmond provided an update on Styles’ condition.

Redmond wrote:

Coming out of Smackdown last night, I can confirm that AJ Styles suffered a “mid foot ligament sprain” also known as a Lisfranc injury. AJ will have an MRI later this week to determine the severity of the injury.

Shortly after Hayes was announced the winner, he was attacked by United States Champion LA Knight, continuing their rivalry. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis later said he would speak to Hayes next week about a possible title shot.

This was Styles’ first match on WWE programming since Clash at the Castle in June. However, he did wrestle on the European tour in August and several house shows last month. He also defeated Naomichi Marufuji at Pro Wrestling NOAH Destination 2024 in July.
