Work underway for new tenant at CastleCourt Shopping Centre in Belfast

Work is underway to fit out a store for a new tenant at a Belfast shopping centre.

Hoarding from construction firm H&J Martin was spotted at CastleCourt Shopping Centre on Royal Avenue on Wednesday morning, detailing that a “fit out” is currently taking place.

It is on the ground floor of the shopping centre, on the ground floor of the former Debenhams unit. It is understood that TK Maxx is due to move into this unit, with an opening date scheduled for spring 2024.

The retailer is currently located on a nearby site at Donegall Arcade, which is spread across three floors. This new unit at CastleCourt will see TK Maxx based on one large ground floor site.

TK Maxx was previously an anchor tenant in CastleCourt before the unit was later filled by Toys R Us in 2016.

A number of new outlets opened at the city centre shopping centre last year, including Australian-owned bakery Muffin Break which opened as part of a £200,000 investment creating 15 jobs.

The upper floor at CastleCourt has been partly filled by a cinema, named The Avenue, which opened in March. The art deco inspired cinema boasts nine 60-seat auditoriums, a café, and a bar.
