Our policy senior manager Graham Burgin talks through the actions telephone and email betting gambling businesses will need to take to participate in the GAMSTOP multi-operator self-exclusion scheme from 1 April 2024.
GAMSTOP (opens in new tab) is the online self-exclusion scheme. It currently gives consumers the opportunity to exclude themselves from all online gambling for a period of at least six months. We have decided that by extending the scope of the requirement to include telephone and email betting services we are taking a small but important step to better protect vulnerable consumers.
Impacted gambling businesses will have to integrate with the GAMSTOP application programming interface. This will allow their customers’ details to be appropriately cross-referenced with the GAMSTOP register.
If as an operator, having viewed the webinar, you have further questions you can contact the Commission via 0121 230 6511 (option 2) or licensing@gamblingcommission.gov.uk for support on licensing queries. And GAMSTOP support is available with regards to the integration process via support@gamstop.co.uk and for fees information via finance@gamstop.co.uk.
