Queen Camilla will not be attending any Remembrance events this weekend, the Palace announced.
On Saturday, a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace told Bazaar that the queen consort was “unwell with a chest infection.” Subsequently, she will not join her fellow royal family members today at the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, nor the Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph on Sunday.
The events are each part of the United Kingdom’s Remembrance Day commemorations, which see the nation pay tribute to those whose lives were affected by World War I, and honors those who have served and sacrificed. Though Queen Camilla will not join the group, King Charles will lead the royal family throughout the Remembrance Day events, and will lay a wreath of poppies at the base of the Cenotaph during Sunday’s event.
Princess Kate will also be present, as she slowly returns to public duties following her treatment for cancer. She made her first public appearance after recovering from chemotherapy in September, attending a Sunday service at Crathie Kirk, a church on the royal family’s Balmoral estate in Scotland.
King Charles, who is still receiving cancer treatment, has also returned to public duties since his diagnosis in February. He recently completed his first major foreign trip in October, embarking on a six-day tour of Australia alongside Camilla. Buckingham Palace has also made it known that he is ready for more next year, signaling his health is improving with plans for a “normal-looking” schedule of overseas tours for 2025.
