The fatal shooting at a private Christian school in Madison, Wisconsin, is the kind of tragedy with which America has become all too familiar.
What is less familiar, however, is the profile of the shooter. Police confirmed on Monday night that Natalie Rupnow, a 15-year-old girl, had that morning armed herself with a handgun and killed a fellow teenage pupil and a teacher at Abundant Life Christian School. At least six other people were injured.
Rupnow, who was also known as Samantha, was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound when officers arrived and died on the way to hospital.
Since 1982, some 145 mass shootings in which three or more people were killed, have been carried out in the US by men. Only four such
