Where to buy the PS5 30th Anniversary DualSense controller: pre-orders starting to go live now

Must read

PS5 30th Anniversary DualSense controller pre-orders are now live with listing pages appearing and queues forming at PlayStation Direct. As a result, we’ve begun tracking stock live and will keep this page up to date with all the best places to try and find the glorious new gamepad.

Sony had previously confirmed that pre-orders “will begin at 7am PDT (10am EDT).” The queues have now reset at PlayStation Direct US, meaning if you were already on-site, you will likely need to refresh to put yourself back in the queue before 7am PDT / 10am EDT. Pre-orders have been live in both the US and UK for some hours now, meaning stock isn’t likely to last much longer at PS Direct.

Cutting to it, you can now get into the 30th Anniversary DualSense – as well as all for wider ‘regular’ PS5 Pro pre-orders and the rest of the PlayStation 30th Anniversary pre-orders.

One thing we will say is that stock has been available for the special edition controller over at Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart. However, stock has been incredibly inconsistent across all three, with PlayStation Direct still being the most reliable and having stock at the time of writing. As such, that’s still your best bet if you can get through the PS Direct queue.

Should you pre-order the PS5 30th Anniversary DualSense controller?

Whether or not you should pre-order the PS5 30th Anniversary DualSense controller is largely going to come down to how much you want to get your hands this special edition design. If you’re particularly wedded to the PlayStation brand, or have lots of nostalgia for the gray look of the original PlayStation, then it should definitely be on your radar. It would make for a good collectors item too, as it commemorates an important milestone in the brand’s history.

I expect that demand for this controller will be especially high compared to previous releases. This means that it is likely to sell out quickly when it becomes available and locking down a pre-order might be your best shot at ensuring that you do get one.

That said, if you’re happy with your current DualSense or don’t like the design, then you can avoid the stress of the pre-order rush. There’s also a slim chance that this model will be more widely available in future due to potential restocks, though this has not been officially confirmed yet.
