Gregg Wallace deserves due process and the presumption of innocence. These, to me, are not optional extras or the icing on the cake. Rather, they are the cement that holds everything else together.
Civilisation isn’t possible, not in the long run, without the security owed to each of us that we won’t be subject to cancellation without an opportunity to put our side of the story to a fair arbiter.
But I think those of us who stand steadfastly on this side of the line must also acknowledge that due process is not just about what we are entitled to when subject to an allegation. Equally, and crucially, it is also what we’re owed when making an allegation, whether about inappropriate behaviour or anything else.
