Democrats meet for their four-yearly convention a party transformed by the emergence of Kamala Harris as their new standard bearer.
Harris, the vice-president, has eroded the polling deficit that was growing under President Biden against his rival Donald Trump, while at the same time delivering a morale boost to party activists.
Harris and Biden are set to be lauded in a series of speeches from senior figures and rising stars of the party, building up to Harris’s big moment when she has the chance to address the convention hall and a large TV audience during prime time on Thursday night.
