Members of the Icon Fitness gym in Wexford town have raised approximately €3,000 for the Hope Cancer Support Centre by taking part in a special fitness challenge in the RDS, Dublin. In what was a friendly, fun event, the Icon Fitness team joined members from 300 other gyms for Battle Cancer, a 90-minute CrossFit challenge.

Teams were invited to fundraise for The Irish Cancer Society or their chosen cancer charity with Icon Fitness choosing to donate all proceeds to Wexford’s Hope Cancer Support Centre. To help them in their efforts, the Hope Centre sent t-shirts to the Icon Fitness team.

Alison Malone was one of those who took part in the challenge and she said all those at Icon Fitness understood the importance of the event.

“We decided to take part and help to raise funds for the Hope Centre because cancer is an illness which touches everyone at some point in their lives.”

Thanking Rebecca Robinson and Denise Leniston for their work in driving the team on, Alison also paid tribute to all those who supported and sponsored the participants.
