Watch: LA fires seen over iconic Santa Monica skyline

As of Wednesday morning, the Los Angeles wildfires covered more than 2,900 acres – stretching down towards Santa Monica.

An evacuation order for all areas of Santa Monica north of San Vicente was issued on Tuesday night.

Footage from resident Isabel Mahon shows the view of the wildfires from the Californian coastal city’s iconic skyline at about 17:00 local time on Tuesday (01:00 GMT Wednesday).

Ms Mahon said the fires had “significantly worsened” since the video was recorded.

She added: “From where I am, the sky is glowing orange and flames can be seen in the distance… The winds are incredibly strong.”
