Drivers planning Christmas getaways should expect long queues this weekend.
More than 25,000 cars are expected to travel out through the Port of Dover, according to experts.
Peak times on the roads will be between 6am to 1pm today and tomorrow.
KCC Highways said the Dover Traffic Access Protocol (TAP) scheme on the A20 at Aycliffe had been implemented this morning due to heavy freight volumes.
This is to prevent traffic towards the port from disrupting the local roads and the A20 through the town.
But, it has since been stood down.
Operation Brock has also been deployed on the M20 between Maidstone at Junction 8 for Leeds Castle, and Ashford at Junction 9.
The move will allow lorries to be held on the coastbound carriageway.
As well as roads, travellers taking on trains may also face disruption.
Fewer services are expected to run tomorrow in the run-up to Christmas and the New Year where engineering works often take place.
Southeastern says busses will replace trains between Sevenoaks and Paddock Wood, Sevenoaks and Wadhurst, and Dover Priory and Ramsgate.
The Met Office has also warned of potential further delays on the roads and on public transport with strong winds.
Meteorologists say it will be a “wet and windy weekend for many”.
