Wallace And Gromit’s epic TV return date confirmed in new BBC trailer for festive film Vengeance Most Fowl

Must read

The BBC have confirmed Wallace And Gromit’s epic TV return with the release of a new trailer.

The festive film, Vengeance Most Fowl, will premiere on Christmas Day on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

Wallace and Gromit are set to encounter their returning arch-nemesis Feathers McGraw – 16 years after their previous adventure.

The highly-anticipated feature-length film sees Gromit’s growing concern as Wallace becomes over-dependent on his inventions – which proves justified when Wallace creates a ‘smart gnome’ that seems to develop an evil mind of its own.

As events begin to spiral out of control, it’s up to Gromit to put aside his qualms and battle sinister forces, or Wallace may never be able to invent again.

But who could possibly be behind such evil actions?! Rightfully behind bars for all this time, Feathers McGraw is back with vengeance.

The villain was last seen in 1993’s Bafta and Academy Award-winning short The Wrong Trousers.

The voice cast will feature Ben Whitehead as Wallace, the eccentric, cheese-loving inventor from the North of England who lives with his best friend and loyal pooch, Gromit.

The BBC will celebrate the premiere of Vengeance Most Fowl with three specially commissioned short videos.

Featuring Wallace, Gromit and new character Norbot in a variety of locations, the festive videos – created by Aardman – will play out on BBC One between programmes for the entirety of December.

Fans were delighted in 2022 when it was announced that Wallace and Gromit will be back for a Christmas 2024 feature film.

And now fresh casting details have been revealed for the new movie – which will see Peter Kay return to his role as Chief Inspector Mackintosh.

The new film will be 70 minutes long and features the return of the iconic penguin supervillain Feathers McGraw.

Ben Whitehead will return as the voice of Wallace while comedian Peter, 50, is back as Chief Inspector Mackintosh.

They star alongside new cast members Lauren Patel (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Lloyd of the Flies) and Reece Shearsmith (League of Gentleman, Inside No.9).

There will also be cameos from Diane Morgan (Afterlife, Motherland), Adjoa Andoh (Bridgerton, Invictus) and Lenny Henry (Three Little Birds, The Lord of the Rings).

The new Wallace and Gromit feature film comes over a decade after their last special A Matter Of Loaf And Death aired.

The first teaser short trailer showed Feathers leaving prison and getting ready to cause more havoc.

The spin-off will come from the creative team at Aardman, who are also behind the popular children’s TV series Shaun The Sheep.

The upcoming film will focus on Gromit’s worry that Wallace has become too dependent on his inventions.

His worries are proven when Wallace invents a ‘smart gnome’ that develops a mind of its own.

As events spiral out of control, it falls to Gromit to put aside his qualms and battle sinister forces – or Wallace may never be able to invent again.

The film, made by animation powerhouse Aardman, follows the latest Shaun the Sheep caper The Flight Before Christmas, a Wallace & Gromit spin-off which aired on BBC One in 2021.

Creator of Wallace and Gromit and Director of Vengeance Most Fowl, Nick Park, said: ‘I’d had the idea of a film about garden gnomes turning bad for more than a decade, but I could never work out what made them bad.

‘It occurred to me that the single most asked question I get when I meet fans is, will the penguin Feathers McGraw, Wallace and Gromit’s original antagonist from The Wrong Trousers 30 years ago, ever return?

‘We’ve had fun bringing him back in cameo capacities but now, three decades on, it felt like the right time. Then it hit me: What if Feathers was involved with these gnomes?

‘We’re hoping that this film will appeal to fans of ‘Gnome Noir’ everywhere and that people will be gratified when they see what Feathers has been up to since The Wrong Trousers.’

Merlin Crossingham, Creative Director added: ‘Whilst we love to revive enthusiasm across our existing fan base, we also want this film to reach people who have never come across Wallace and Gromit before.

‘Hopefully Vengeance Most Fowl is full of everything people love about Wallace and Gromit while introducing new themes to their ongoing story.’
