The brand made the announcement after a customer pleaded to return them to the shelves.

The parent, whose children have autism, explained that his family “can’t cope” with the extra cheesy brand.

Taking to X, he wrote: “Could you bring less cheesy Wotsits back please?

“Myself and my autistic children can’t cope with the extra cheesy version and I can’t find the original ones anywhere,” he continued.

“These were our go to ‘calming snack’. Crunching calms us!”

Walkers responded to the fan and wrote: “Our Mild Cheese Wotsits were discontinued many years ago, but we’ll bear your suggestion in mind!”

Mild Cheese Wotsits came in a cream bag and fans say they were “less messy” than the regular crisps.

“Does anybody remember the Mild Cheese Wotsits? They used to come in a white bag. My friend and I can’t find any evidence of them existing,” one person wrote on Mumsnet.

“Yes I remember them as I gave them to dd (darling daughter) when she was a toddler as they were less messy than normal ones. They were a much paler colour so didn’t stain clothes,” another replied.

A third person said they had messaged Walkers on Instagram to gain clarification on whether the crisps still exist.

They shared the conversation to clear up any confusion with crisp fans.

“Hi I need a debate settling please. I can remember you brought out Wotsits without the colouring, they were in a white or cream package but no one else can!

“Please tell me I’m not crazy,” they wrote with a sticking-out-tongue face.

“Hi Mel, we don’t think you’re going crazy. We used to make Wotsits ‘Mild Cheese’ flavour in cream/off white packaging back in 2004 but they were delisted a year later. I think it goes to prove you have a good memory,” Walkers replied.

This isn’t the first time that Walkers’ fans have expressed upset over a flavour being discontinued.

Walkers Stax are now no longer available in the UK.

One user posting on X, formerly Twitter, wrote: “Hi, I’m from abroad and absolutely love Lays Stax.

“Are they available here? Cause I haven’t found any.”

Walkers replied with a sad face and the message: “Hi Jonathan, we used to make Walkers Stax here in the UK, but sadly they’re no more!”

Jonathan did ask if there were any plans to bring the popular range back.

However, Walkers said there were “no current plans” to reverse the decision.

A Walkers spokesperson said: “We said goodbye to Walkers Stax three years ago.

“Continuously evolving our portfolio enables us to focus our efforts on making more of the flavours crisp fans love the most.”

They also confirmed that their Sensations Streetmix range had been axed.

The Streetmix brand included flavours based on cities, such as Bangkok, Mumbai and Mexico City.
