One of my favourites is a metallic-trimmed robe I bought for £15 at Notting Hill market in the early 2000s when boho was having a moment.
Although my style is more pared back, the laidback aesthetic (think Stevie Nicks in her gypsy era) won me over.
Unsurprisingly, boho continues to make its mark, with a 2024 update, combining the trending Western aesthetic with elements of `60s and `70s nostalgia.
The best bit? Softer, and more nuanced, it’s even easier to incorporate a hero piece into your existing wardrobe. Here’s how.
Make London-based label Rixo your go-to brand for vintage-inspired prints. Their iconic silk and silk-blend midi dresses (bias cut with empire waists) in sizes 6-26 are low-key closet keepers, especially with ankle boots and a suede jacket.
For designer kudos, Isabel Marant merges global style references with a cool Parisian sensibility, creating iconic staples (cowboy boots, fringed bags and tiered skirts) that remain modern classics.
For budget-friendly options, high street collaborations like M&S x Sienna Miller and Rita Ora x Primark run the gamut from super-feminine ruffle dresses and eyelet lace tops to festival-inspired crochet cardigans, hip-slung belts and beaded necklaces.
Keep your eyes peeled for second-hand sites. Pre-loved Kate Moss x Topshop collectables, like this fringed leather waistcoat, are available on eBay. Wear over a slip dress or, if you dare, with hotpants, a tank top and wellies.
In the meantime, you can find me scouring the rails for boho beauties at Cork’s Miss Daisy Blue—my not-so-secret vintage haunt. It’s too good not to share.
