Valorant Patch Notes 9.02 – Patch

Must read

The Valorant Champions 2024 kicks off in just a few days! As always, Riot Games prefers not to shake up the game’s balance too much before this big event, preferring to concentrate on visual and comfort updates. Visit Patch 9.02 won’t revolutionise the game, but we can expect bigger changes in a few weeks’ time, once the champion is crowned.

Key points to remember about this 9.02 patch:

  • The Training Ground changes on PC
  • A new look for the combat report
  • Changes to the choice of Agents and Maps in Premier
  • Tougher punishments for toxic players
  • Changes and patches of all kinds

Console gamers have already had the pleasure of discovering that the game’s initial tutorial has been updated. Better paced, more scripted and staged, you’ll now play as Phoenix on his first day at Valorant, while the other Agents teach him the basics, across several maps.

We recommend you take a look, even if you’re a veteran of the game.

Just in time for the Valorant Champions, the battle report is getting a makeover. No images have been shared yet, so it’s hard to say exactly what’s changed at the moment. However, the battle report will now appear by default during the purchase phase. It will be possible to remove it in the options.

From now on, the play-offs in the Competitor and Invitation divisions will end in a final of 2 winning rounds. All the rounds prior to these finals will be played in 1 winning heat.

Players will have to choose and exclude maps before selecting their Agents. It is of course impossible to replay a map that has already been played in a final.

This patch includes a huge number of fixes of all kinds. There are fixes for both PC and console, for Agents, Maps, the interface, menus and text. Here are the most important ones:

  • On Abyss, it is no longer possible to block the Spike on the outer edges of the map.
  • On Sunset, you can no longer jump on the Ruelle A crate.
  • Neon’s hitboxes are no longer offset during his slide.

In a further move to reduce toxicity on Valorant, Riot Games has decided that those found guilty of inappropriate communication will now face even harsher penalties. Be careful what you say in text chat and learn how to behave vocally.

Riot Games is also taking advantage of this patch to fix various other bugs, particularly on consoles. You can find all the patch notes for patch 9.02 at the official website of Valorant. It is already online.
