Valencia floods: at least 250 missing as Spain braces for more rain

At least 250 people have been declared missing in Valencia as southeast Spain braces for more heavy rain.

Some 158 people are known to have died in the flash floods but the search goes on for survivors and bodies of more victims. Alert levels remain high across the country.

Several areas of the provinces of Valencia and Castellón, as well as the south of Tarragona, are under an orange warning from Aemet, Spain’s meteorological agency.

In Andalusia, Aemet raised the warning to red in the Atlantic coastal areas of Huelva as a strong waterspout flooded part of its capital and surrounding areas. A tornado hit the fishing port of Isla Cristina, close to the Portuguese border. Families are being evacuated from parts of Jerez
