Unilever is planning to cut up to 3,200 office jobs in Europe as its new chief executive presses ahead with a drastic restructuring of the consumer goods powerhouse.
The maker of Marmite, which employs 128,000 people globally, told staff that it would cut a third of its roles in Europe by the end of next year. It employs between 10,000 and 11,000 office-based staff in Europe.
The job cuts form part of Unilever’s “productivity programme”, announced in March, that includes removing as many as 7,500 roles internationally and aims to save the company about €800 million over the next three years.
