Ukraine’s special forces launch attack ‘sinking 15 Russian boats’

Ukrainian special forces inflicted a major blow on Russian forces, after wiping out 15 boats in a daring nighttime attack.

Fighting along the frontlines has intensified in recent weeks, as both sides seek to gain a major tactical breakthrough.

Russian forces recently made confirmed advances southeast of Chasiv Yar, near Avdiivka, and southwest of Donetsk City, while Ukraine‘s army recently advanced north of Kharkiv City.

In the south, fierce battles continue on the east bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region.

Pro-Kremlin military bloggers report that Russian and Ukrainian forces are fighting for control over the islands in the river’s delta.

While conducting reconnaissance in the area, Ukrainian special forces came across several Russian boats, used to ferry troops and ammunition.

Units from the 73rd Naval Centre used drones to drop bombs on the boats and destroy them.

The Special Operations Forces said in a statement: “Drones with a drop system were used against enemy watercraft.

“None of them will transport Russian military personnel anymore.”

Ukraine‘s army later posted a video of the strikes to its social media channels.

In one clip, a landing boat bursts into flames after taking a direct hit from a munition dropped by a drone.

It comes as Ukraine‘s army claimed Russia had suffered over 1,000 more casualties on Tuesday, bringing the total of Russian losses to over 550,000.
