It has emerged that Tyson Fury was suspended from boxing immediately after his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in their undisputed heavyweight title fight.
Fury suffered the first defeat of his professional career on Saturday night as Usyk claimed a split decision win over the ‘Gypsy King’ in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Fury lost his WBC heavyweight world title to Usyk, who is now the first undisputed heavyweight champion in more than two decades.
Usyk appeared to break Fury’s nose in round eight with a superb punch that rocked the British fighter.
Fury struggled to recover and was forced to take a standing count in round nine after somehow remaining on his feet following a ferocious barrage of punches from Usyk.
Fury eventually recovered his senses and reached the final bell but lost on a split decision, with two judges scoring in favour of Usyk compared to one for Fury.
Despite emerging victorious, Usyk was handed a 14-day medical suspension by the United Arab Emirates Commission following the fight.
He has been ruled out of action until June 2 following a post-fight medical exam, with Fury’s promoter Frank Warren revealing the Ukrainian had suffered an impacted tooth implant during the bout.
The Sun has now reported that Fury has also been hit with a medical suspension, albeit a shorter one than Usyk.
Fury, who boxed under a Nevada licence, was handed a week-long suspension following his medical exam, meaning he is free to fight again from Saturday.
Meanwhile, it is claimed the undercard fights ‘took place under the auspices of the British Boxing Board of Control’ which is said to have ‘have no knowledge of Usyk’s brief ban’ or the ‘decision to suspend Fury’, which only came to light on Friday.

Fury is yet to confirm his next move but could trigger a rematch clause, with October touted as a potential date for a second fight with Usyk.
Speaking in his post-fight press conference, Fury said: “I’m fresh out of the fight, as you can see from my face I’m a bit busted up. And he’s gone to hospital with a broken jaw and he’s busted too.
“So we’ve punched the s*** out of each other for 12 rounds there. I’m going to go home, eat some food, drink some beers, have some family time, walk the dog, go to the tip.
“And me and Frank will talk about what’s going to happen in the future.”
