During an interview last year, Twiggy credited ‘luck’ as the secret to her long marriage to her husband Leigh.

Twiggy married the actor in 1988, following the death of her first husband Michael Witney five years earlier.

Twiggy told Good Housekeeping’s September issue due to their past experiences with love, she and Leigh have always been ‘a little gentler’ with their romance.

She said: ‘[Leigh and I] have been together for 38 years, which is frightening! I suppose luck has a lot to do with it.

‘You never know when you meet somebody how it’s all going to turn out or what life is going to throw at you.

‘We’ve both been through things that didn’t work out for various reasons and when you’ve had that experience, you’re a little gentler when you meet someone else.’

Twiggy is considered one of the most iconic supermodels in history, and first rose to prominence in the 1960s with her piercing blue eyes and beautiful bone structure.
