Tube strikes announced by two unions in row over pay

Commuters in London face a week of travel chaos as members of two unions hold strikes next month, closing down the Underground amid a row over pay.

Tube drivers represented by the Aslef union will walk out for 24 hours from midnight on November 7 and November 12, the union said.

The Tube is likely to close early on the evening before each strike begins. There will also be a knock-on effect on services in the mornings after the walkouts.

Workers rejected a pay rise of 3.8 per cent alongside reforms to pay and conditions, which would have taken their salaries up to just over £69,600 per year.

The Aslef union counts about 85 per cent of London Underground drivers among its members. They voted
