Ex-President Donald Trump left a bulletproof glass wall protecting him in his first outdoor campaign rally since surviving an assassination attempt to check on a fan experiencing a medical emergency.

Trump was delivering remarks to supporters in Asheboro, North Carolina, when an attendee to stage left appeared to have a medical episode shortly before 3pm on Wednesday.

The situation caught the Republican nominee’s attention and he looked over and called for ‘a doctor, please’.

Claps rung out as Trump halted his speech and looked to his left for several minutes at the direction of the episode.

Trump mentioned the high temperature and that some of his supporters had waited a long time to see him speak.

‘It is very hot here, I notice. It is very hot. A lot of the people waited for days to get here. I understand it,’ he said. ‘Take your time, doctor, take your time, thank you.’

Trump then walked away from the panels of glass and down a few steps into the section of the crowd, and found and hugged an elderly woman.

The woman appeared to be the person suffering the medical episode and was drinking water and seemed to be recovering. Her identity was not immediately known.

About a half dozen Secret Service agents in suits stood around Trump during the interaction.

The crowd began chanting, ‘We love Trump!’ and the ex-president made his way back to the stage.

Trump’s podium was set up at the North Carolina Aviation Museum & Hall of Fame nearly a month-and-a-half after a shooter on the roof of a building in Butler, Pennsylvania, grazed his ear with a bullet during an open-air rally.

In addition to the protective glass, storage containers were positioned around the perimeter of the event. Snipers were also stationed on the roofs of the venue.

In his rally countering the Democratic National Convention happening in Chicago, Trump uttered his new nickname for his opponent Kamala Harris, ‘Comrade Kamala’. He blamed Vice President Harris, as second in command to President Joe Biden, for inflation, Russia’s war on Ukraine, and the Gaza war.

‘Comrade Harris, you’re fired,’ Trump said to the cheering crowd. ‘Get out of here. You’re no good. You’re fired, get ’em out of here.’

Trump also launched personal attacks on Biden, who he said was at a beach and, ‘people don’t want to see you in a bathing suit’. The ex-president described Biden as ‘angry’ and ‘shouting’ in his farewell address at the Democratic convention on Monday night.

After his speech, Trump did his signature two-fisted dance as YMCA played within the protective glass wall, then again walked out into the crowd for a few minutes before disappearing behind a curtain.
