Travis Kelce Has the Best Response to Being Asked If ‘Karma’ Is About the ‘Guy on the Screen’

Travis Kelce handles questions about Taylor Swift’s exes like a pro!

While chatting about his relationship with Swift, 34, during the June 25th episode of Barstool Sports’ Bussin’ with the Boys podcast, Kelce, also 34, fielded a question about the singer’s viral “Karma” lyric change — and who the song previously referred to.

At an Eras Tour show last November, Swift changed a lyric from the Midnights track that alludes to an actor. Instead of singing, “Karma is the guy on the screen / Coming straight home to me,” the popstar (who has previously dated actors Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal and Joe Alwyn) swapped “screen” for “Chiefs” — a clear nod to her NFL star beau.

When asked whether the “guy” in the original “Karma” lyric refers to Gyllenhaal, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end shrugged it off, asking, “What happened?”

“Wasn’t it ‘guy on the screen?’ ” podcast co-host and former NFL linebacker Will Compton asked, and Kelce replied that “it was.”

Co-host and NFL free agent Taylor Lewan then chimed in, noting that “it’s changed,” and Compton, 34, added, “I know it’s changed. Like, I know it’s about the boy now, right?”

Reflecting on the chaos that ensued after Swift first implemented the viral switch — which she has since repeated in February and last weekend in London — Compton continued, “I remember when that clip dropped and she said that [and] everybody’s going nuts.”

“The camera pans over Trav, he’s kind of grinning in the backstage,” he said of the viral clip, and Kelce added, “I was like, ‘Oh s—!’ ”

After the interview was posted online, fans took note of Kelce’s response on X (formerly known as Twitter). “The way he handled that nonsense was great tbh,” one user posted, according to TMZ.

Then, in response to Compton’s own X post, “Teaching my 2 yr old daughter who Karma is,” Kelce perfectly reacted with “😂😂😂.”

Kelce’s epic “it was” response came amid a segment in which he and the podcast hosts revealed their top three songs by Swift.

The NFL star’s favorites? “Black Space,” “Cruel Summer” and “So High School” — because it’s “got a little bit of a sentimental meaning,” he said slyly.

Elsewhere in the podcast, the tight end got even more personal, sharing how he knew he was starting to “really fall” for the 14-time Grammy winner, who first sparked romance rumors after making a surprise appearance at one of Kelce’s games last September.

Explaining how Swift “understands situations,” like him and the Chiefs winning the 2024 Super Bowl, Kelce told the hosts, “She’s very self-aware. And I think that’s why I really started to really fall for her, was how genuine she is around friends [and] family.”

“It can get crazy for somebody with that much attention … and she just keeps it so chill and so cool,” he said, adding, “I can admire it for sure”

Kelce also opened up about balancing the public and not-so-public sides of his relationship, saying, “You want to keep things private, but at the same time I’m not here to hide anything.” He added, “That’s my girl. You know what I mean? That’s my lady. So it’s like, I’m proud of that.”
