Finding that sweet spot for comfort on a plane often feels like a quest for the Holy Grail.
For many travellers, snagging a window seat is akin to striking gold – as it can feel impossible to find a a snug corner to curl up and catch some Zzzs. Yet, there’s a new trick circulating on social media that’s could be the solution.
Across various platforms, flyers are demonstrating how they’ve used their seatbelts to keep themselves anchored in their seats. It should stop you from spilling out over your seat and annoying the person next to you.
To pull off the technique, use your seatbelt to anchor your feet to the chair. You’ll need to pull your knees up and then adjust the belt to fit around your ankles.
In a viral clip that has racked up over half a million likes, travel gurus Angie and Ricky shared: “Thank you whoever posted this hack, finally tried this airplane hack and had the best nap ever. Life changing”.
Echoing the sentiment, another traveller exclaimed: “Had THE BEST nap.” Another enthusiast shared: “I went on a plane today and did this it honestly was so niceeeee.”
And a third gushed: “Omg yessss this is genius. Thank you for sharing!!!! I can literally never sleep good because my legs can’t get comfy on those tiny seats and it’s hard to sleep when they’re just dangling.”
Others weren’t so convinced though, with a sceptic commenting: “My knees could NEVER.” Another chimed in with: “My fat calves could never!”
Meanwhile, one pointed out a cabin crew member had stopped them from using the technique. Some argue this is because it isn’t the most safe position to be in.
A concerned user cautioned: “If you crash your teeth would be in the back of your throat and something might impale your head so don’t do dis.” And a self-proclaimed flight attendant weighed in, saying: “As a flight attendant I would in fact be correcting this for takeoff.”
