A savvy traveller has urged holidaymakers to check out what she dubs the “most underrated country in the world” promising a jam-packed adventure for less than £500.
TikTok user Hannah, who dishes out travel advice on her page @hannahshols, can’t stop singing the praises of Malta. Nestled below Italy and hovering above Tunisia, this gem is just a hop over three hours away from England by plane.
Hannah and her mates jetted off to the pint-sized nation and managed to have a blast on a budget, shelling out just north of £400 each. This covered their return flights, a five-night stay at a swanky hotel complete with a rooftop pool, breakfast, luggage, and airport transfers.

Her TikTok video showcasing the trip went viral, amassing over a million likes. She gushed: “Malta is by far the most underrate country I think I’ve ever visited.”
She didn’t stop there, adding: “Even though Malta is the 10th smallest country in the world, it is definitely giving big country energy”, reports the Mirror.
The clip highlighted Malta’s dazzling sea views, bustling shops and restaurants, rich historical sites, and stunning gardens.
Reflecting on her September jaunt last year, Hannah enthused: “One thing I loved about Malta was that it was like nowhere I’d ever been before. It’s got such strong Arabic and Roman influences. It was just absolutely beautiful and everyone we met just seemed so proud to be Maltese.”
The travel vlogger recommends tourists to explore the capital city of Valletta. Hannah and her group mostly strolled around the city or used the bus service, which she described as “super convenient and cheap”.
She suggested: “Just spend a day in Valletta, roaming around, street dining, going to the boutique shops, wandering in and out of the gardens, seeing the cannons being fired at the saluting battery, and checking out the harbour front.”
Hannah also advised booking the Gozo, Camino and Blue Lagoon cruise. This full-day boat trip departs from Sliema and allows you to visit both islands in one day and admire landmarks. According to Hannah, it cost her and her friends “around £29 each”.
Hannah’s video received over 1,000 comments, with many agreeing with her affection for the country. One local individual commented: “I am from Malta and I am so happy that you loved our little island,”.
“Malta is stunning, I would go back in a heartbeat,” another person added. Another user said: “Genuinely one of my favourite European destinations ever- never gets boring.”
“Omg I live in Malta, it’s so underrated,” another person wrote.
Air Malta, Easyjet, British Airways, Ryanair, and Jet2 offer direct flights to Malta from the UK. The most popular route to get there is via London Heathrow to Malta International Airport, in the capital city of Valletta.
Flights can also be booked from Bournemouth, Liverpool, Norwich, Belfast, Manchester, Bristol, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Leeds, Nottingham, and Glasgow.
