Travel disruption after vandalised train removed from service

Must read

Isle of Wight trains face disruption until tomorrow lunchtime (Friday, May 31) after a carriage was damaged in an act of vandalism.

South Western Railway (SWR), which runs the Island Line service, have been informed that a train has been subject to vandalism between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin.

Due to the damage, train services running to and from these stations will be reduced.

SWR said the train has been taken out of service, meaning fewer trains can run on the Island Line.

A spokesperson said: “We anticipate this will last until around midday on Friday, May 31.

“For further information or onward travel advice, please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.

“We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey.”
