Festivities were held at Hays Travel’s Downham branch to celebrate its official opening, following a cosmetic refit.
Customers were invited to the revamped branch to enjoy food and drinks alongside Mayor of Downham, Barry Hobbs, and suppliers Cosmos and TUI.
Local businesses Mabels Bakery and The Downham Tandoori also donated vouchers and The Norfolk Cheese Company donated a cheese board in a giveaway for customers.
Cheryl Peacock, Downham branch manager, said: “We were absolutely thrilled to receive so much support following the refit. Downham has always been a popular branch with a strong customer base, but we wanted to enhance the customer experience further with a fresher environment. Everything from carpets to electricals has been updated in the refit which was previously postponed because of the pandemic.
“Just one week into our reopening, we have already seen a huge impact on our customers and colleagues, who love the brighter, airier space. Customers old and new are responding positively to our new look and we have been extremely busy. We are excited to see our branch’s potential continue to grow and look forward to welcoming even more visitors into the branch.”

As well as improving the environment within the branch, refits such as this latest at Downham are also designed to improve the accessibility and energy efficiency of Hays Travel’s retail estate.
Jane Schumm, Hays Travel’s retail director, said: “Refits consider not only branches’ appearances but also how they operate. We are dedicated to ensuring that our branches are visually appealing and operate efficiently with our customers experience at the forefront. We wish Downham colleagues every success in their new and improved branch.”
