FC Bayern are looking ahead to the upcoming transfer window with the clear intention of significantly strengthening the squad. After the first title-less season in twelve years, there could be a major personnel shake-up at Säbener Straße in the summer.
Bayern have been linked with numerous players in recent weeks. According to the BILD podcast „Bayern Insider“, the Munich club have compiled a kind of „shopping list“ for the summer transfer period. This list of players has been drawn up by the Bayern bosses and has yet to be agreed with the (new) coach.
Among the players being considered are well-known players from all over Europe. Frenkie de Jong, known for his precision and understanding of the game in midfield, is not being traded in Munich for the first time. The Barcelona professional could strengthen Munich’s central midfield. Due to the Catalans‘ strained financial situation, De Jong has repeatedly been rumoured to be a possible candidate for sale.
Xavi Simons is also rumoured to be on the list. The young Dutchman is currently on loan from Paris Saint-Germain to Bayern’s league rivals RB Leipzig. It was recently rumoured that Paris would be prepared to sell the technically skilled midfielder despite Simons‘ strong season.
Also mentioned is Theo Hernández, who impresses with his speed and technique on the left flank at AC Milan. There have also been rumours about him recently. He could replace Alphonso Davies in the event of a possible departure.
Not only established names are on the list, but also the young talent Assan Ouédraogo from FC Schalke 04, who is regarded as a promising prospect for the future. German international Jonathan Tah from champions Leverkusen could provide Bayern’s defence with new stability, while Amadou Onana from Everton FC could enrich the midfield with his physical presence and technique. Left winger and international Chris Führich from surprise team VfB Stuttgart is also rumoured to be on the Bayern bosses‘ list.
The decision as to which of these players will ultimately find their way to Munich will depend heavily on the plans of the future coach. Next season’s head coach will be heavily involved in the final composition of the squad. At the moment, there are many indications that Thomas Tuchel will remain at the club.
Bayern are said to be prepared to spend considerable sums of money to prepare the squad for the challenges of the new season. According to BILD, up to 200 million euros are to be invested in reorganising the squad. However, this should also include refinancing through player sales.
