AT LEAST five people including tourists have been killed in a horror landslide on a paradise holiday island.
Terrifying pictures show the aftermath after heavy rains sent mud hurtling towards a luxury resort and homes on the Thai island of Phuket.
Among the dead were a Russian couple who were on holiday in the popular resort.
Cops are working to identify the other three victims.
The mudslide slipped down the Nak Kerd mountain range and swamped an area known for hotels and holiday lets at around 2am.
Soldiers and rescue teams are working through the sludge to find other victims.
Local resident Sukon Nakmat, 34, revealed she narrowly escaped death after hearing a “loud bang”.
She quickly climbed onto the roof of her house – and then saw the torrent of mud and water sweep beneath her home.
Ms Nakmat said she would have died had she not been awoken by the noise.
Thailand has been struck by monsoon rains in the country’s south and north over the last week.
Police chief Khundech Na Nongkhai said: “Heavy rain which began at 2am last night caused a landslide that damaged homes.
“Those living in the area were caught off guard.”
