Timo Werner will stay at Tottenham next season after the club announced an extension to his loan deal from RB Leipzig.
The German joined Spurs on an initial loan move in January from the Bundesliga outfit for the second half of the season.
Brought in to provide cover for Heung-min Son, the ex-Chelsea forward chipped in with two goals and three assists in 13 Premier League matches.
Ange Postecoglou’s side had an option to sign Werner permanently for around £15million, one they have not taken.
But a Spurs statement has confirmed he will spend the 2024/25 season with the north London giants.
And just like in their previous deal, they will have another option to complete a permanent switch next summer.
BBC Sport have reported that they can do so for £8.5million.
In Spurs’ announced video, Werner said: “I’m happy to be here in north London. I see how good the club is, how good we are as a team.
“I feel already in the stadium that they are behind me and that they’re very happy when I score. Spurs is a really, really good place to stay at.”
Werner made an instant impact on his Spurs debut in their 2-2 draw against Manchester United when he assisted Rodrigo Bentancur.
His first goal for the club came in their 3-1 win over Crystal Palace before he netted his second in a 4-0 victory at Aston Villa.
Werner’s season was cut short in their 3-2 north London derby defeat against Arsenal as he went off in the first-half with a hamstring injury.
However, he will have another chance to showcase his quality to the Spurs faithful when he returns for next season.
The 28-year-old is likely to be followed by other signings this summer as Postecoglou looks to build on his impressive first year at the club.
