Tottenham have confirmed the departure of Tanguy Ndombele from the club following the mutual termination of his contract. Upon the conclusion of his Galatasaray loan spell that expires at the end of this month, Ndombele’s five-year spell in north London will come to an abrupt end.
A statement from the club on Wednesday afternoon read: “The club can confirm the departure of Tanguy Ndombele following the mutual termination of his contract, effective from 30 June, upon the conclusion of his current loan spell.
“Signed from Olympique Lyonnais in July, 2019, the midfielder scored on his debut against Aston Villa and went on to make 91 appearances for us in all competitions, scoring 10 goals.
“During his time here, Tanguy had loan spells back at Lyon, Napoli and with Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray last season. We should like to wish Tanguy all the best for the future.”
Struggling to make a real impact in the capital following his big-money move from Lyon, Ndombele returned to the French side in January 2022 with the midfielder not part of Antonio Conte’s plans. The agreement with the Ligue 1 side did contain an option to buy but it was not taken up by Lyon.
Once again heading out on loan the following season, Ndombele headed to Serie A after linking up with Napoli on a season-long deal. While it did prove to be a very successful year for the Naples-based club as they finally got their hands on the Scudetto after a long wait, the Tottenham man played an extremely bit-part role in their success.

Ndombele would get his hands on another league winners’ medal last month after Galatasaray beat fierce rivals Fenerbahce to the Super Lig title. Again, it was another campaign of limited football for the midfielder as he was restricted to only 454 minutes of action in his 19 league outings.
With clubs unlikely to be queuing up to sign Ndombele on a permanent basis this summer after three extremely underwhelming moves, Spurs and the player have agreed to a deal that will see him depart a year early rather than keep him at the club for the last 12 months of his contract. Ndombele leaves Tottenham having made 91 appearances in total.
