Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are the latest celebs to be burglarized after a gang targeted their LA home in broad daylight.

Law enforcement officials revealed to TMZ that the A-lister’s cliffside home was broken into a few weeks ago, as thieves smashed through the glass to get inside a guest house on their property.

The actors had been out of their home town when the security alarm was triggered by the broken glass – but this did not stop the criminals from entering the $26million Pacific Palisades residence.

Officials, nor Tom or Rita, have yet revealed what, if anything, was stolen and how much those items might be worth.

The case is currently under police investigation and so far, no arrests have been made as the couple become at least the fourth celebrity to be hit in the last month after Bhad Bhabie, Sarah Hyland, and Marlon Wayans.

The couple purchased the 14,513sq ft home in January 2010.

The 4 bedroom, 5 bathroom cliffside mansion is covered in limestone, boasts three stories and includes a wine cellar, a cliffside swimming pool and deck area, and a tree-lined motor court, according to Architectural Digest.

MailOnline has approached the actor’s representative for comment.

The pair have become the latest victims in a string of burglaries in the area, with and appears to be the work of one of the many gangs operating in the wealthy location.

In the past six weeks alone, popstar Bhad Bhabie and actress Sarah Hyland have also fallen prey to the sharp surge in burglaries in and around Los Angeles, leaving cops concerned that the groups are becoming more fearless.

Four weeks ago, Bhad Bhabie’s home was hit by burglars after thieves smashed through her back door before stealing items such as handbags and jewelry.

Law enforcement entered the rapper’s home after the alarm was triggered shortly before 10pm on July 12.

Authorities discovered signs of forced entry but none of those who broke into the property were found at the scene, although one man in a black hoodie was spotted fleeing by time cops arrived.

Bhad Bhabie, who’s real name is Danielle Peskowitz Bregoli, is thought to be worth a fair amount of money after she recently revealed she has earnt a whopping $57 million over on OnlyFans.

Sarah Hyland, 33, also had her home broken into by intruders after she spotted ‘two masked men’ leaving her property on her security cameras.

The Modern Family star’s house in Los Angeles was burglarized  on July 27 – also during broad daylight – after the suspects smashed a glass window to gain access into her home.

Sarah had been out of town at the time of the incident but caught her crime while watching her live security camera footage from her mobile phone after receiving an alert.

TMZ revealed cops were called to the property and carried out a sweep to ensure none of the criminals were sill lurking nearby.

Although the case is still under investigation, law enforcement hasn’t made any arrests in the case at this time.

So far, it’s unclear what might have been stolen from Hyland’s home.

The former Love Island USA host will be doing an inventory of her possessions as soon as she arrives back in Los Angeles, which the police will use to help track down any stolen property.

Actor and comedian Marlon Wayans also had his Los Angeles home broken into recently, on June 29, and posted a warning to potential thieves quickly after.

In an Instagram post he said: ‘Don’t waste your time.

‘They didn’t really get much because I don’t own s***. I don’t have anything valuable in my house except MY HOUSE. Sorry, I live a simple life’.

TMZ previously reported that the robbery took place at around 2:30am while his brother Keenen Ivory Wayans was asleep.

A staffer discovered in the morning that the home had been ransacked and that a safe had been taken.

The recent news of Tom and Rita’s home being broken into comes nearly a year after the couple’s son, Chet, 34 encountered an intruder in his own home.

At the time, it was reported that the suspect attacked the arresting officers at the scene, but Chet was unharmed.

Chet recently shared insights about his upbringing, confessing he felt ‘worthless’ despite having famous parents.

While chatting with his fellow celebrities on ‘Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets’, Chet revealed: ‘I’ll tell you something about my childhood.

‘People think that being Tom Hanks’ son, like, I would grow up feeling like I was the s***.

‘I actually grew up feeling completely f****** worthless. People treated me like, ‘You must think you’re better than me’ when I didn’t.

‘I just wanted to be friends with everybody and be treated like everybody else.

‘But what am I supposed to do? Walk through the doors and be all meek and timid? That was a mind f*** for me to deal with.

‘If you do walk in through the door and you’re like, ‘Here I am motherf*****’ then it’s like, ‘Oh look at you arrogant son of a b****. ‘ I did internalise all that negativity. Maybe I am f****** worthless, you know what I’m saying?’
