Tom Cruise ‘is set to perform EPIC stunt to close 2024 Paris Olympics’ and pass the baton to Los Angeles for the 2028 games

Tom Cruise will be performing an epic stunt to close out the 2024 Paris Olympics, it has been claimed.

For the upcoming Closing Ceremony, the actor, 62, is gearing up for a thrilling feat to wrap up the games and pass the flag to Los Angeles for 2028.

At the end of this year’s games, he will be rappelling down from the top of the Stade de France and landing on the stadium field with the official Olympic Games flag in hand, according to TMZ.

The Top Gun star — who has joined many other A-list stars in the stands to watch the games in Paris — will also be seen in a transition for the forthcoming 2028 summer games in Los Angeles via a pre-recorded clip he filmed back in March.

In the video, which will be shown after his live broadcast stunt, he will be traveling on an airplane and flying with the flag from France to California before skydiving down to the Hollywood sign.

Cruise filmed the latter half of the stunt in Los Angeles back in March and was expecting the ploy to be unveiled at the time.

Even though he was seen scaling the sign, sources told TMZ that nobody noticed his descent from the sky and did not connect the dots that he was working on a project related to the Olympics.

DailyMail.com reported at the time that he was working on an Olympic-themed commercial when he was pictured hoisting himself up onto the famous landmark as flying drones surrounded him and captured his ascent.

Back in March, Cruise was also seen passing a flag to an athlete.

After landing on the Hollywood sign, it has now been revealed that the short film will show Cruise handing the ensign to other Olympians including a cyclist, skateboarder and a volleyball player.

The outlet reported that the details of Cruise’s stunt in Paris are still in the process of being finalized as the Closing Ceremony is scheduled for August 11.

For logistic and safety purposes, his performance in Paris may end up being done by a stunt double.

Insiders also revealed to TMZ that Cruise was the catalyst behind the stunt idea.

He reportedly reached out to the International Olympic Committee about doing a series of stunts to bridge the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles.

Details of the Closing Ceremony are very secretive, but it has been revealed that Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass will be receiving the Olympic flag from Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, according to Deadline.

The 2028 Summer Olympics, which will be chaired by Casey Wasserman, will be held from July 14 to 30 in Los Angeles.

The city also hosted the Olympic Games in 1932 and 1984.

Los Angeles will likely be kicking off the games of the XXXIV Olympiad at a venue built for the 1932 event: the Coliseum.

It will be part of what LA28 organizers are calling the Downtown Sports Park — a collection of venues that includes Crypto.com Arena, the Convention Center, the L.A. Football Club Stadium, USC’s Galen Center and the Peacock Theater.

Previously, Cruise was also involved in past Olympic ceremonies.

Two decades ago, the Mission: Impossible actor carried the torch through Los Angeles as a part of a global relay for the 2004 games in Athens, Greece.
