Tom Cruise nearly suffered a bizarre injury while filming the 1988 film Cocktail.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday, Aug. 7, his costar Gina Gershon revealed she nearly “broke” her costar’s nose during the shoot.
After being questioned by a viewer on whether she and Cruise ever hooked up in real life, Gershon, 62, insisted they didn’t, but did say she shot her “first love scene ever” with the Mission Impossible star.
Gershon told host Andy Cohen and fellow guest Cate Blanchett that Cruise “totally” took care of her on the film, but admitted there was a moment where she couldn’t say the same about her taking care of him.
“I told him, at one point, he starts off under the covers, and I told him I was very ticklish, I said ‘No, no, don’t ever do that,'” Gershon recalled of filming a love scene in the movie, where she starred as Coral alongside Cruise’s Brian Flanagan.
“In one take I have to say… I think he wanted a reaction, he grabbed my stomach and I kneed him right in the nose. I was like, ‘Oh, my god, I just broke Tom Cruise’s nose.’ He’s like ‘No, no you told me.’ I was like ‘I’m so sorry’, he was like ‘No, it was my fault,’ ” she explained.
“He was so protective over me. He was great,” Gershon added.

After first being asked whether she hooked up with Cruise, Gershon insisted, “Oh my God, do you think I would actually answer that?” adding that his wife at the time, Mimi Rogers, “was very present,” and made sure to introduce herself.
“We did kiss as much as we could,” she admitted of filming the romantic scenes, however.

Cruise has suffered multiple injuries through the years and is famous for performing daredevil stunts in many of his movies.
The Top Gun star is even rumored to be gearing up to perform a skydiving stunt during the closing ceremony for the 2024 Paris Olympics on Aug. 11, per TMZ.
The big finale will reportedly see the film producer travel to great lengths to hand off the 2028 Olympic Games to the next host city — Los Angeles.
According to the outlet, Cruise, or a potential stunt double, is planning to rappel from the top of the Stade de France, before landing on the stadium field while carrying the Olympic flag. A previously-recorded film will then follow Cruise’s journey back to L.A. on a plane, before he skydives to the Hollywood sign.
