These teams are miles apart in terms of where their seasons are headed, but I just don’t think that justifies a point spread this big. While the Wings have lost 5 straight games by at least this margin, the last time they kept it close was on the road against this Connecticut team. Dallas has seen some tough competition since then with difficult travel spots, so the results should be taken with a grain of salt. The Sun are likely to slow this game down to a lower-scoring affair, creating natural value on the underdog, so look for the Wings to stay competitive today.
WNBA (0.5 Unit) NY Liberty/Las Vegas Aces Over 169.5 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 2:00 PM CT on ABC
These teams haven’t met since the WNBA finals last fall, and the wild shootouts they had last season should be replicated here. These are two of the best offenses in the league, and both should be getting reinforcements today with Courtney Vandersloot set to return for the Liberty, and Chelsea Gray expected back for the Aces. That just puts too much firepower on the court at all times for me to look anywhere but the over.
While the Liberty have a strong defense, they’ve yet to face the league’s highest-scoring team. And I don’t think this game will not be defined by defense, especially with how much Las Vegas is struggling on that end. The Aces have allowed their past 3 opponents to score 96 or more points, and only one of those teams has an elite offense. New York should score at will while their defense finally gets tested, so that has me looking over on a fairly reasonable total here.
