THREE children have been injured after a man went on a violent rampage at a daycare centre in Switzerland.
The horror attack reportedly took place shortly after midday local time in Zurich’s northern Oerlikon district, cops have said.
Swiss police added that a suspect has been arrested but gave no details on the attack in Berninastrasse.
Terrified parents were reportedly seen running to the daycare centre to find their children after news of the attack emerged, according to Swiss outlet 20Minuten.
A woman at the scene told Swiss outlet ZuriToday: “I heard children screaming and then a lot of police officers arrived.”
A drone is hovering over the area that has been cordoned off, with the police stationed nearby with submachine guns.
The Forensic Institute is also at the scene, 20Minuten reports.
It is understood the daycare centre is located on the ground floor.
Witnesses told local media of the “huge” police presence on site.
One person told 20Minuten: “There are at least six to seven police cars on site. The ambulance is also on the square with several vehicles.”
Zurich City Police said in a statement: “Shortly after twelve o’clock, the Zurich City Police were alerted to a violent crime on Berninastrasse. Three children were injured.
“A suspect was arrested in connection with this. There is no longer any danger to the public.”
