This weekend’s Xbox Games Showcase could run for two hours and include 30 games, it’s been claimed.
That’s according to Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb, who was speaking about the event on Wednesday’s Kinda Funny Gamescast.
“I’m not going to spoil anything, but the numbers I’m hearing is about two hours and about 30 games, and at least a handful of those are games that we’ve never heard of before,” he said (via Resetera).
Taking place on June 9 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST, the Xbox Games Showcase will be the first such event to include titles from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda and Activision Blizzard.
“I think there will be around five games that we haven’t heard about before and that’s from across all their verticals,” Grubb said, before going on to tease a showing for BioWare’s Dragon Age.
“I joked that Dragon Age Dreadwolf won’t be there and will be there,” he said. “’Dragon Age: Dreadwolf’ probably won’t be there, ‘Dragon Age’ will be there, if that makes sense.”
While some speculated this could mean that a Dragon Age remake is on the cards, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier said: “The rumor he’s alluding to is a name change for DA4, not a different game.”
BioWare previously announced plans to fully reveal Dragon Age: Dreadwolf this summer, ahead of an anticipated release before April 2025.
It’s previously been claimed that the Xbox showcase could be used to announce Gears of War 6 and a new Doom game.
It will reportedly be used to confirm release dates for Xbox’s first-party line-up for the remainder of 2024, which includes Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Avowed, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
