The Voice viewers fume about ‘pointless’ new aspect as series returns to ITV

Must read

The Voice returned to ITV on Saturday night with coaches Sir Tom Jones, Will.I.Am, LeAnn Rimes and McFly boys Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher taking to the iconic red chairs to find the next big singer.

However, just minutes into the show, viewers took aim at one particular “pointless” aspect and flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts.

Fans couldn’t quite grasp why Danny and Tom were sharing one seat as one person asked: “Two judges in one seat Why?? #TheVoice.”

Another confused viewer expressed: “I’m so against having a 2 person chair. Feels so pointless #TheVoice #TheVoiceUK.”

Somebody else questioned: “What if McFly get food poisoning and both end up in the bog with the shits? Did they think of that? #TheVoice.” (sic)

Yet another X user fumed: ” 2 Tom’s… not confusing at all #TheVoice #TheVoiceUK.”

However, not everybody felt the same way as somebody said: “This line up of #TheVoice. Tom and Danny are 2 of my biggest inspirations and i simply love LeAnn, shes just lovely.” (sic)

This is the first time in the show’s 13-year history that two coaches are sharing a seat, in a never-done-before moment for the singing competition.

Danny was previously a coach on The Voice Kids UK from 2017 to 2023, but this time the singer has been joined by his bandmate.

Sir Tom Jones and Will.I.Am are the only coaches that have been on the panel since the very first series which aired in 2004.

LeAnn is doing it for the ladies during her first season on the UK edition after previously acting as a coach on the Australian version.

In the first episode, the singing superstar took to the stage to belt out Elton John‘s classic tune ‘Your Song’ with contestant Joy, as the audience cheered them both.

The Voice UK continues next Saturday at 8:15pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
