The Top Street-style Trends From Milan Men’s Fashion Week: Utility, Denim and Monochromatic Black

Must read

Of all the fashion capitals, Milan has always been known for being a playground for more traditional trends with a larger commercial appeal — and, of course, always pushing forward its “Made in Italy” legacy.

Yes, you still have the influencers being dressed by the big Italian brands, slightly muddying the waters of what is really trending. But in recent seasons the new generation is rewriting what Milan street style is all about.

One of the biggest trends taking place was denim, denim and more denim in all its forms and shapes. Denim blazers, in a throwback to “casual Fridays,” and Canadian tuxedos and jean shorts in different lengths were omnipresent. As a general rule, the baggy ‘90s style was the main message in lighter shades but also in dark gray and black.

Talking about monochromatic black, always a street-style uniform in cities like Paris and New York, it became the color of choice in Milan as well. Within the dark shade, the ultra-baggy Bermuda board short paired with sleeveless numbers and lace-up shoes with tonal knee-high socks emerged as a new leisure suit of sorts.

Utility references prevalent on the runways for spring 2025 were also a key trend throughout the week. Cargo pants, utility vest and all sorts of workman’s references added another casual touch while keeping the vibe young and relevant.

When it came to the more traditional sartorial moments, the softly constructed slouchy suit appeared to be the leading message, especially cool when worn with a traditional tie. A suit with a tie? Groundbreaking…right? But after a week mainly full of casual fashion, a traditional moment was refreshing.
