The One Show presenter Alex Jones made a “breaking news” announcement just minutes into Friday’s instalment. As the host was chatting about the guest line-up, she got excited that BBC News presenter Clive Myrie was on the programme.
Introducing the show, Alex began: “Hello and welcome to The One Show, we are live on BBC One and Player with Roman Kemp.” “And Alex Jones,” Roman continued. “It is the start of your Bank Holiday weekend and we have got lots coming up to keep you entertained.”
“Yes Adrian Dunbar is here,” Alex went on. “He’s best known for playing Ted Hastings in Line of Duty but tonight we will be interrogating him about taking to the stage with the classic musical, Kiss Me Kate.”
Roman told viewers: “Jazz hands at the ready as Adrian and the cast will be treating us to a spectacular performance of Two Darn Hot at the end of the show. And if their rehearsal if anything is to go by then it is not to be missed.”
“I can’t wait for that,” Alex replied before announcing: “And some breaking news…Clive Myrie will be here. He has swapped his shirt and tie for swimming shorts and headed to the Caribbean for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.”
Despite fans being excited by the stellar guest line-up, some fans weren’t so keen on the performance at the end of the show.
Taking to X, one fan complained: “It’s a big NO from me. Painful. #theoneshow,”
“Line of duty the musical looks interesting #theoneshow,” another joked.
A third added: “The performers were great! Shame about the backdrop.”
During Thursday’s instalment, Roman aired concern for Alex after she made an on-air blunder when chatting with Babatunde Aleshe.
When discussing the comedy awards, Alex began: “Congratulations, you are a new judge on the New Comedy Awards,” before pulling a really confused face.
“Now did I say the word comedy?” she started to say before the guests and the crew started laughing out loud.
“Are you okay?” Roman questioned before his co-star quickly moved on.
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
