Charity shops are a great place to pick up some bargains – and when it comes to holiday clothes they proved a winner.
I headed to two charity shops in Newcastle city centre -British Heart Foundation and The Salvation Army on Clayton Street, bagging myself a bargain or two in the process. The four item I took home would have cost up to £125 in the shops, but I got them for just £19.
In British Heart Foundation I bought two pairs of swimming shorts – The first pair were from M&S, and came in at £4.50, with similar pairs costing between £15-£25 at M&S.
I would argue that the second pair which I found were even better value, as they are from Ted Baker, with blue and white stripes and an ornate blue flower design over the top. These shorts once again come in at £4.50, and similar new pairs on the Ted Baker website can cost between £50-£60.
In the literary section, I found a copy of ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep’ by Philip K. Dick, which is a book that I have very fond memories of. I managed to bag it for £2, as it usually sells for at least over £10 at major booksellers.
I then headed into The Salvation Army and immediately found something from my favourite clothing brand, Levi’s.
The T-shirt, which is dark blue and features the Levi’s logo. cost me just £8. This is comfortably less than the £25-£30 that you would expect to pay for a t-shirt like this when it is new directly from Levi’s.
Some great finds in the city centre – and all for less than £20 in total.
