Giovanni Pernice revealing that he secretly recorded dancing sessions on Strictly Come Dancing “reflects the mood of our time,” Cressida Wetton has claimed.
The 34-year-old Italian dancer made the admission in a recent interview, following a controversy that erupted when Abbington accused him of abusive behaviour during their time on the show.
Pernice stated he began filming their rehearsals without Abbington’s knowledge after becoming worried she might make false allegations against him.

Paul Cox added: “Yes, it’s impossible to get better without being told you’re not doing well enough.
“So I mean this to me feels like it’s undermining all abuse against women because it’s lumping in someone being oversensitive about a man talking to them as some sort of abuse.”
Pernice explained his decision to record the sessions, saying: “That was the first time I knew that I had to take some action – so I asked for chaperones and cameras in the room.”
He expressed concern about Abbington’s behaviour, noting she sent positive messages praising their training after intense sessions, while reportedly expressing unhappiness to other celebrities.

“She was saying one thing to me and something else to others on the WhatsApp group. She was telling two different versions of the story,” Pernice claimed.
The dancer admitted the saga left him depressed, fearing for his career. “There were so many tears of frustration and sadness,” he shared.
The BBC investigation cleared Pernice of 11 out of 17 allegations made by Abbington.
One upheld complaint involved Pernice using “belittling” language, including swearing.
