Jobseekers in Grimsby and North East Lincolnshire having a hard time finding entry-level positions should check out these listings.
Grimsby Live has found a mix of entry-level jobs and apprenticeships so it doesn’t matter if you don’t have a degree or highly specialised skills in a particular field. Perhaps you want to develop your confidence sales or find employment that lets you earn while you learn.
You might also hope to learn a new skills that will help you in the future, either when you are applying for more advanced roles or opening your own business. There are also some jobs that promise internal career progression.

Medical Receptionist
A job for a medical receptionist at Dr R K Mathews Surgery has been listed, with a closing date of June 20, 2024. No particular qualifications are necessary other than a pass grade in GCSE maths and English.
The job description reads: “To ensure that the reception area of the practice runs smoothly and provides the highest achievable levels of service to both patients and other members of the practice team including Doctors and Nurses.
“Suitable candidates will be flexible, willing to cover leave and have the ability to work as part of a team in a busy and dynamic environment. Discretion and experience of working with the public are essential.”

Jobs at Ormiston Maritime Academy
If you’d like to work with older children, there are two jobs going at Ormiston Maritime Academy, a secondary school in Grimsby. The first is for the role of Behaviour Mentor which has a salary of £21,137.00 – £22,240.00 and is 35 hours per week but in term time only, so is classed as a part-time job.
The description reads: “We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated person to work as part of our Inclusion Hub Team. The successful candidate will work with small groups and one to one with students on short to medium term programmes to address barriers to learning.
“The Hub is an in-house alternative provision unit to provide educational and emotional support for a small group of students with the aim of re-engaging students who have missed their education due to a vulnerability factor.”
If you want to become a teaching assistant, there is also an apprenticeship on offer at Ormiston Maritime Academy. It pays £6.50 per hour, in line with national apprenticeship wages.
The description reads: “The successful candidate will undertake a course of study to work towards the Institute of Apprenticeships Teaching Assistant Level 3 Standard.
The successful candidate will be required to support the education of students, to undertake the necessary preparation of resources, following procedures and internal systems to promote engagement and learning.”

Sales Associate at H Samuel
If you’re a people person, there is a job being advertised at H Samuel in Grimsby. The salary is described as “competitive” with bonuses including a staff discount, bonuses, and career development.
The description reads: “Our team members work hard to develop outstanding product knowledge and real jewellery expertise that they can share with our customers.
“As a committed and dedicated member of the team, you’ll play a key role in helping the store to maintain performance and meet sales targets. Car valet
A job is opening for a valet at an established site based in Stallingborough. Valeting involves a greater eye for detail than simple car-washing and the idea is to make the car look “as new” with waxing and polishing.
It might be a springboard for someone who wants to learn the tricks of the trade before opening their own business. The salary is listed as £11.94 per hour.
The job description says the ideal candidate will have a good eye for detail, be able to work within a busy, consistent paced environment, have great timekeeping, be 22 years old or older, and have a full UK Driving Licence held for 12 months+ (as cars will need to be moved in and out of the wash bays).
