‘The Last Of Us’: Catherine O’Hara Narrates First Season 2 Teaser, Showing Off Kaitlyn Dever As Abby — Watch

Must read

The first look at Season 2 of The Last of Us is finally here.

HBO released a teaser for the highly anticipated second installment Thursday, which is narrated by Catherine O’Hara, who guest stars.

Her role has been kept under wraps, though she appears to be playing some sort of therapist for Joel, helping him confront the events of Season 1. If that’s the case, then she would be playing an entirely new character who is not in the video game.

“You can’t heal something unless you’re brave enough to say it out loud,” she says. “Say the thing that you’re afraid to say. Say it out loud, no matter what it is. No matter how bad. What did you do?”

The teaser doesn’t give much away from the second season, though it does give glimpses at Kaitlyn Dever as Abby and Isabela Merced as Dina. It also includes some iconic imagery from the game. Watch the teaser above.

HBO released the video to commemorate “Outbreak Day,” which is the day that the cordyceps virus prompted the events at the beginning of The Last of Us. This marks the 11th year that the franchise has celebrated September 26.

In Season 2, after five years of peace following the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie’s collective past catches up to them, drawing them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.

So far, no word on a release date, though it’s expected in the first half of 2025.  Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann previously teased to Deadline that Season 2 will be shorter than the first with just seven episodes, though one of the episodes will be “quite big” in length.

Pascal and Ramsey are returning alongside Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria.

Previously announced new cast includes Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Catherine O’Hara also guest stars.

The Last of Us is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. The series is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television and is also executive produced by Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Evan Wells. It hails from PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog.
