The First Descendant should be receiving an update this week following the developer’s well deserved short hiatus to celebrate an important holiday in Korea. While we know a couple of aspects that will be addressed, most of the update is a complete mystery. Very little has been revealed, but The First Descendant fans on Xbox would like Nexon to fix a bug that isn’t affecting PS5 players.
There is a lot to anticipate for TFD. A couple of changes and fixes have been confirmed for the next update, meanwhile, Ultimate Freyna is set to arrive in just a few weeks. In addition, a leak has revealed some new skins coming soon for Valby as well as possibly Hailey, Freyna, and many more playable characters.
While we cannot wait for Ultimate Freyna as well as the arrival of multiplayer for Invasion Dungeons, there’s still some fixes and QoL improvements sorely needed. One aspect that needs to be fixed specifically for Xbox is grappling.
The First Descendant fans bemoan grappling bug
On The First Descendant subreddit, OP IIDOUBLETAPII shared a post titled “I hate these lol“. The post is about their disgruntlement with challenges that require players to collect specific amounts of data before the end of a time limit.
Attached to the post is a screenshot showing the OP plays on Xbox. In realization of this, one user commented, “grappling is bugged for Xbox specifically so you have it harder than the rest of us”.
As for what the specific grappling bug is, you can see the difference between grappling on PS5 and Xbox in the embedded Reddit post from Eversoris33 below:
Most of the community are oblivious to how different grappling is on PS5 compared to Xbox. On PS5 it’s completely smooth perching players on top of where they’re grappling, but on Xbox it’s a different story.
There are some comments saying the bug is on PC, too, but these appear to be outliers rather than the general consensus. As it stands, the bug appears to be specific to Xbox only, which is understandably frustrating for players on Microsoft’s console.
While there are fixes such as just holding up the thumbstick to mantle after a grapple, the community has pointed out that solutions shouldn’t be needed as grappling should work the same across all systems. Hopefully the issue will be rectified by Nexon soon, but the issue has been documented for at least longer than a month.
